Metapace T-25 Windows Printer Driver

This software is a Windows printer driver for Metapace T-25.
Installing this printer driver allows you to use the standard print functionality found in most Windows applications.

 

Getting Started

Creating a Printer Queue

You can create a printer queue with the following procedure.

 

As soon as the printer queue is created, you are able to change the printer settings. Change the printer settings with the following procedure.

  1. Open the 'Control Panel'. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, open the 'Devices and Printers' folder. In Windows Vista, open the 'Printers' folder. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, open the 'Printers and Faxes' folder.
  2. Right-click the printer queue that you want to configure to open a shortcut menu. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, click 'Printer properties'. In Windows Vista, click 'Run as administrator', and then click 'Properties'. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, click 'Properties'.
  3. Configure the printer settings by clicking 'Printing Preferences' on the 'General' tab or by using the 'Device Settings' tab.

You can configure different printer functions according to each printer queue.

Detailed Usage

Device Settings

The 'Device Settings' tab of your printer queue's properties window contains many different settings.
Open the 'Device Settings' tab with the following procedure.

  1. Open the 'Control Panel'. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, open the 'Devices and Printers' folder. In Windows Vista, open the 'Printers' folder. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, open the 'Printers and Faxes' folder.
  2. Right-click the printer queue that you want to configure to open a shortcut menu. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, click 'Printer properties'. In Windows Vista, click 'Run as administrator', and then click 'Properties'. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, click 'Properties'.
  3. Click the 'Device Settings' tab.


The description of the contents of each function are listed below.

 

Paper Type

Two types of setting, 'Receipt' for variable-length and 'Ticket' for fixed-length, are provided.
Use the 'Receipt' option if your print jobs vary in length and you want them cut immediately following the last line. (You must set your receipt paper size at Paper Size.)
Use the 'Ticket' option if your want your print jobs to have a consistent length that you set via Paper Size. The paper will be cut when it reaches the set value.

 

Data Treatment Recover From Error

When the error occurs, you can handle the unprinted data which has already been sent to the printer as below.
If you want to cancel the unprinted data after the error has been recovered from, select 'Clear Data By Document Unit' and check 'Enable bidirectional support' box at the 'Ports' tab of 'Printer properties'.
If you want to print the unprinted data continuously after the error has been recovered from, select 'Store Data' and uncheck 'Enable bidirectional support' box.

 

Page Cut Type

The 'Page Cut Type' setting controls how all the pages of your print job are cut, except the last page.
To not cut each page of the document, select 'No Cut'. To cut each page, select 'Partial Cut'.

 

Document Cut Type

The 'Document Cut Type' setting controls how the last page of your print job is cut.
To not cut the last page, select 'No Cut'. To cut it, select 'Partial Cut'.

 

Print Speed

This setting controls how fast the printer prints.
In most cases you will want to use the 'High' speed option. When the priority for print quality is higher than print speed, the 'Low' option should be selected.

 

Print Density

This setting controls how dark the printer prints.
In most cases you will want to use the 'Standard' option. Select '+1', '+2' or '+3' to print darker.

 

Document Top Logo

Configure the 'Document Top Logo' setting to one of the 'Registration Key n (n is a key code)' options to print a logo that has been stored in the printer.
Any logo that you choose here will be printed before the first page of the document. By configuring it to the 'No Logo Printed' option, the logo will not be printed before the first page of the document.

Before starting this setting, you must register your logo into your printer. For details, please refer to Logo Store Help for Printer Utility.

 

Page Top Logo

Configure the 'Page Top Logo' setting to one of the 'Registration Key n (n is a key code)' options to print a logo that has been stored in the printer.
Any logo that you choose here will be printed at the top of each page of the document. By configuring it to the 'No Logo Printed' option, the logo will not be printed at the top of each page.

Before starting this setting, you must register your logo into your printer. For details, please refer to Logo Store Help for Printer Utility.

 

Page Bottom Logo

Configure the 'Page Bottom Logo' setting to one of the 'Registration Key n (n is a key code)' options to print a logo that has been stored in the printer.
Any logo that you choose here will be printed at the bottom of each page of the document. By configuring it to the 'No Logo Printed' option, the logo will not be printed at the bottom of each page.

Before starting this setting, you must register your logo into your printer. For details, please refer to Logo Store Help for Printer Utility.

 

Document Bottom Logo

Configure the 'Document Bottom Logo' setting to one of the 'Registration Key n (n is a key code)' options to print a logo that has been stored in the printer.
Any logo that you choose here will be printed at the end of the last page of the document. By configuring it to the 'No Logo Printed' option, the logo will not be printed at the end of the last page of the document.

Before starting this setting, you must register your logo into your printer. For details, please refer to Logo Store Help for Printer Utility.

 

Cash Drawer1

The printer can activate the external peripheral you have connected to Cash Drawer 1 at various times during document printing.
Choose the 'Document Top' option to activate your peripheral only once before printing begins. Choose the 'Document Bottom' option to activate your peripheral only once after printing completes. If you do not use Cash Drawer 1, choose 'No Use'.

 

Cash Drawer2

The printer can activate the external peripheral you have connected to Cash Drawer 2 at various times during document printing.
Choose the 'Document Top' option to activate your peripheral only once before printing begins. Choose the 'Document Bottom' option to activate your peripheral only once after printing completes. If you do not use Cash Drawer 2, choose 'No Use'.

 

Cash Drawer1 - Pulse Width

Set pulse widths of Cash Drawer 1.
Different cash drawers require different pulse widths, so choose from the available options until you can rely on your cash drawer to open when required.

 

Cash Drawer2 - Pulse Width

Different cash drawers require different pulse widths, so choose from the available options until you can rely on your cash drawer to open when required.

 

 

Paper Size

This driver provides you several Pre-defined Paper Sizes.
You can also create custom paper sizes with User-defined Paper Size using the Windows Printer Queue.
Each paper size is defined to be a specific width and height which denotes the printable area. You need not apply any margins to your documents.
The paper size(s) that include the word 'Receipt' in their name are intended for variable length print jobs, such as receipts; when using this paper size be sure to choose the 'Receipt' option of the Paper Type setting.

Your paper size configuration may be changed according to the current configuration of the applications you are using.
If there is not any paper size configuration within your application, please use the following setting. It is recommended that you configure the same value in three locations.

  1. Open the 'Control Panel'. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, open the 'Devices and Printers' folder. In Windows Vista, open the 'Printers' folder. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, open the 'Printers and Faxes' folder.
  2. Right-click the printer queue that you want to configure to open a shortcut menu. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, click 'Printer properties'. In Windows Vista, click 'Run as administrator', and then click 'Properties'. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, click 'Properties'.
  3. Click on the 'Printing Preference...' button found on the 'General' tab, then click on the 'Advanced...' button found on the new window's 'Layout' tab; you will then see the 'Paper Size' setting - choose the same paper size option here.
  4. Select the 'FRICTION' option in the 'Form To Tray Assignment' branch of the 'Device Settings'.
  5. Click on the 'Printing Preference...' button found on the 'General' tab, then click on the 'Advanced...' button found on the new window's 'Layout' tab; you will then see the 'Paper Size' setting - choose the same paper size option here.

Creating User-defined Paper Sizes

To create user-defined paper sizes, you can use the Windows Printer Queue function and follow the procedure below.

  1. Open the 'Control Panel'. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, open the 'Devices and Printers' folder. In Windows Vista, open the 'Printers' folder. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, open the 'Printers and Faxes' folder.
  2. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, select the printer you want to configure, and click 'Printer Server Properties' from the menu. In Windows Vista and XP, right-click the blank area in the folder that you opened. In Windows Vista, click 'Run as administrator', and then click 'Server Properties'. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, click 'Server Properties'.
  3. In Windows Vista, the 'User Account Control' dialog box appears. Click 'Continue'.
  4. Click the 'Paper' tab.
  5. Click the 'Create a new form' check box.
  6. Type a new name into the 'Form Name' box.
  7. Choose the 'Units' in the 'Form Description' and input the value you want into 'Width' and 'Height' for the 'Paper Size'.
  8. Click the 'Save Form' button and click 'OK' to finish.

 

Paper Sizes which are provided by the Metapace T-25 Printer Driver are as following.

Printer Option Settings

By setting Printer Option you can send any control commands (control codes) or strings before or after printing.

To set Printer Option, follow the procedure described below.

  1. Open the 'Control Panel'. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, open the 'Devices and Printers' folder. In Windows Vista, open the 'Printers' folder. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, open the 'Printers and Faxes' folder.
  2. Right-click the printer queue that you want to configure to open a shortcut menu. In Windows 8 / 7 / POS Ready 7, click 'Printer properties'. In Windows Vista, click 'Run as administrator', and then click 'Properties'. In Windows XP / POS Ready 2009, click 'Properties'.
  3. Click the "Printer Option" tab.


Printer Option can be sent at four timings below.

Set the Printer Option by entering a control code or a string in the text box for the send timing.
You can enter a control code by adding '\x' to each byte in front of a hexadecimal number. You can enter up to 500 bytes per field.

Note:
  • Use a lowercase 'x' in '\x', which indicates hexadecimal input. If you use an uppercase 'X', it will not be interpreted to mean hexadecimal input.
  • Double-byte characters cannot be used.
